We, the undersigned, are calling on Cardiff Council to take immediate action to improve public safety in Splott Park by installing adequate lighting throughout the park.
It has been almost a year since a serious sexual assault took place in Splott Park - an incident that highlighted the urgent need for better safety measures. Yet, to date, no meaningful improvements have been made.
Currently, the lack of lighting in Splott Park contributes to a sense of fear and vulnerability, especially for women, young people, and anyone walking alone after dark. Poor lighting creates conditions that can lead to dangerous incidents going unnoticed. This must change. Parks should be safe, accessible spaces for everyone, day and night.
We stand together as residents to demand a safe and well-lit park for all. No one should feel unsafe in their own community.
